Futuristic computing

Love that we've come full-circle on shared mainframes. Let's definitely underpin all of modern society on this tech.

20-Sided Tavern

Saw Twenty-Sided Tavern at the Balboa last night. This is immediately after the DM (the woman in purple) rolled, with disadvantage, a nat 1 AND a nat 20.

Books everywhere

After we went to two bookstores, we wanted to get some food on the way home. So we stopped at the mall, where we found ... a book fair?

Verbatim Books

I always love finding a new favorite bookstore! Verbatim Books in North Park is not as big as an Elliott Bay or a Powell's or The Strand, but it's so lovely.

Bookstar

This is easily the coolest Barnes & Noble I've ever seen. It's in a converted old movie theater, and not only kept a bunch of the art-deco touches but also leaned in hardcore, including neon modernist signs on the wall for genres and gorgeously painted/appointed flourishes.

Server for serverless

The way to guarantee durability and failure recovery in serverless orchestration and coordination is … a server and database in the middle of your microservices.

I’m sure it’s a great product, but come on.

I think this is a symptom of wealth and age more than anything. Though it’s funny how 2/3 of those things are no longer even available for purchase

RIP, Titan

Titan was the silliest boy, who at some point was feral and yet constantly slept like this - as if to say, "please eviscerate me." Love you, buddy. Miss you. ❤️

Published comedienne

The one "published" joke I've ever had was when I submitted a joke review for Codekit 3. Proud of it to this day, even more so because mine was the only joke that got through from the beta-testers.
